Causes that matter to me

This page is a small collection of charities and causes that I believe deserve more visibility. Some relate to mental health, others to the outdoors, community, or wellbeing. . I’m sharing them here just in case they’re useful to someone.

The gabby petito foundation

Although the Gabby Petito Foundation is based in the US, its work and message extend far beyond borders. The foundation focuses on raising awareness around domestic violence, coercive control, and the importance of recognising warning signs early.

I’m including it here because the issues it addresses are universal, and because awareness, education, and prevention matter everywhere.

ramblers

The Ramblers work to protect public footpaths, access to green spaces, and the right to walk freely across the countryside. Their work helps ensure that walking remains accessible to everyone, regardless of background or experience, and that paths and landscapes are cared for long-term.

BLACK GIRLS HIKE

Black Girls Hike is a UK-based community that encourages and supports Black women to explore the outdoors through walking and hiking. Their work focuses on creating welcoming, safe spaces and challenging the idea that the outdoors is only for certain people.

ANDYS MAN CLUB

Andys Man Club is a UK-based organisation that provides free, peer-led support groups for men who are struggling with their mental health. Their sessions offer a safe, non-judgemental space where men can talk openly, listen, and feel less alone.

Comainn Eachdraidh

Comainn Eachdraidh are local history societies found across Gaelic-speaking areas of Scotland. They work at a community level to preserve local history, language, stories, and memories, often focusing on everyday life and oral history rather than official records.

scotways

ScotWays works to protect and record Scotland’s historic rights of way, helping to preserve long-established paths and access routes across the landscape. Their work supports responsible access and helps ensure that walking routes remain open and cared for.
